PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - The Peekskill Democratic City Committee will be hosting the first District 19 Congressional Democratic Primary Forum on Thursday, Jan. 26.
The event will be held at 7 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Nutrition Center inside the Community Center on Nelson Avenue.
The event will host Mayor Tom Wilson of Tuxedo Park, Cortlandt Council member Richard Becker, Wappingers Falls Mayor Matt Alexander and Times Square hero and Buchanan resident Duane Jackson.
Each candidate will have the opportunity to introduce themselves to the audience and answer a few questions, said Peekskill Democratic Committee Chair Mike Kane.
"We're not calling this a debate, it's a forum," said Kane. "It will allow them to introduce themselves and answer questions from district leaders and members of the audience"
The four men are running for a seat currently held by Republican Nan Hayworth (R- Mt. Kisco), and Kane said he believes a Democrat will have a good chance to take the seat back from her in 2012.
"She was only elected as part of the Tea Party backlash," Kane said. "And now that people have gotten to know her they see she only represents the Tea Party, and the Tea Party is going the way of the dodo bird -they've failed their constituents."

Tonight I attended the District 19 Congressional Democratic Primary Forum and I want to thank them for this great opportunity to meet the candidates. Matt and Richard are very impressive candidates and showed a strong command of the issues. In particular they showed chinks in Nan's Armour. Tom was a big disappointment. He spoke mostly about himself and his land trust in Tuxedo Park. It sounded more like a sales pitch for his trust rather than a serious stab at a campaign.
